Telluride Mountain Run — 10-Week Training Program with Anna Frost

A race-specific coaching program built for the San Juan Mountains. Ten weeks of structured preparation to get you to the start line of one of Colorado's most challenging and spectacular mountain races.

About the Telluride Mountain Run

The Telluride Mountain Run is one of Colorado's most challenging and technical mountain races, set in the dramatic San Juan Mountains above the historic mining town of Telluride. Five routes wind through old mining roads, singletrack, and alpine tundra — over mountain passes, exposed ridgelines, and high summits above 13,000 feet.

TMR is extremely demanding. The combination of significant elevation gain, technical terrain, and high altitude makes specific preparation essential. But the reward is extraordinary — the burn of altitude, the striking colours of the San Juans, and the satisfaction of finishing exactly where you started.

Race Date: August 22-23, 2026

Why train with Anna for Telluride

Anna Frost has raced in high-altitude mountain terrain across the world for over 20 years — from vertical kilometers to 100-mile mountain ultras. She understands the specific physical and mental demands of racing above treeline, at altitude, on technical ground. The Telluride Mountain Run isn't just another trail race — and Anna's coaching reflects that.

Race-specific preparation

Every week of the program is built from the race outward — starting with the specific demands of the San Juan Mountains and working back to where you are today. Each session has a purpose, and the training progresses deliberately toward race weekend.

Built for altitude

Racing above 13,000 feet demands more than fitness — it demands acclimatisation, pacing discipline, and an understanding of how altitude affects your body. Anna builds altitude awareness into the program from week one, so there are no surprises on race day.

Expert mountain running coach

Anna holds a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education from Otago University, with a focus on coaching, biomechanics, sports psychology, and nutrition. Combined with two decades of racing in the world's most demanding mountain terrain, she brings both the science and the lived experience to your preparation.
